Gmail to Add Phone Calling Feature
Search Engine Marketing, Technology
Yesterday Google added a new feature to their Gmail product, which they will roll out over the course of the next few days (schools and businesses using Google Apps may have to wait a bit longer). Just by installing the voice and video plug-in, US based Gmail users can call anywhere in the US and Canada for free, at least for the remainder of the year, as soon as “Call Phone” appears in the chat list. Calls to outside the US and Canada will billed at very “cheap” rates says Google.
This feature can be synched with a a Google Voice account to display the Google Voice number as the caller-ID, and to even receive calls to this number directly within Gmail.
